When the tragic shooting hit UNC Charlotte, I was attending my niece’s graduation from the University of Michigan. It was a cold but bright day in the stadium with thousands of undergraduate and graduate students waiting anxiously to begin their new lives after their academic years of schooling. Our family has had three graduates from this university, though I am Buckeye graduate, I enjoyed listening to Martin A. Philbert, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs giving the opening greeting to all. As Provost Philbert began he asked for a moment of silence for the students injured and killed at UNC Charlotte. After the moment of silenced he spoke of words of sympathy for loss of life to the student body and those in attendance watching how precious all lives are and to remember all. I was so touch I reached out to Provost Philbert who sent me a touching email back that basically spoke of the academic world and the senselessness of this horrific tragedy and they we must all are bound together. As I am graduate of The Ohio State University, I wanted to let my Niner Nation how many universities reached out to their graduating class to remember those whose lives were taken to soon.
